Son, You're Raisin' Her Right

So, this post needs to be pre-faced with a story. Almost two years ago now, Mitch and I had the opportunity to take Gabriel and John Mark who were then 4 and 2 to a Univ. of Georgia vs. Ga Tech game. It was a very cold and rainy game and I was praising the Lord that our seats were under the overhang and we were dry. The boys were very bundled up - puffy down jackets (think kid in A Christmas Story), gloves, hats, etc.

Right around kick-off, after the trumpeter in the corner does his bit and they play the fight song for GA and all, a little old man who looked eerily like KFC's Colonel Sanders, tapped Mitch on the shoulder and with tears in his eyes told Mitch in reference to toddlers on our laps, "Son, you're raisin' 'em right."

So, flashing forward a few years and we witness Libby Kate "watching" her first UGA game this past Sat. night (UGA vs. Alabama). While, not yet at the stadium and definitely not even watching it, she was in attendance in her living room with mom, dad, and Aunt Memuph helping cheer the dawgs to victory.

Even though it is hard to find UGA themed attire for people only 10 days old, Libby Kate was sporting her UGA socks for the occassion.

Shawn, Katie, you would make Colonel-Sanders-man very proud indeed. Certainly not sparing any tears for you, I am sure he would pronounce: "Son, You're raisin' her right."

Libby Kate woke up for the 2nd quarter and while being held by her Daddy, learned about the importance of 3rd Down Conversations, good defense and the screen pass. She laid in her daddy's lap as the Dawgs held the Roll Tide at 4th and 1 and heard her daddy say, "That's good defenese Peanut! Good defense! Yes M'am! Good defense Peanut!"

Too cute.
Glad we could all be together, even if it was for just a little while.
